Shook was founded and named after, Charles H. Shook in 1922. The
company was incorporated in Ohio on December 11, 1926 as Chas H.
Shook, Inc. and in 1977 the name was changed to Shook, Inc. In 1986
the company formed a holding company, Shook National Corporation, of
which Shook, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary. Shook Building
Division, Shook Heavy and Environmental Division, Shook Northern Ohio
Division and Shook Indiana Division make up Shook, Inc. ABS General
Contractors, Inc. and Ameritcon, Inc. are other subsidiaries of Shook
National Corporation.
Shook National Corporation is a privately held corporation whose
stockholders are employees of the company. Shook has built significant
projects in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, West Virginia, North
Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Florida. This work history
includes:
- Major industrial facilities
- Commercial projects
- Public assembly and institutional
- Educational projects
- Telecommunications service work for SBC
- Infrastructure, such as water and waste water treatment plants
Over the last two decades, Shook has moved away from a project mix
that would reflect 90% public projects to more private work (about
60%) and a significant increase in Construction Management and Design
Build work.
Current contracts are valued in excess of $600,000,000. These
projects, and others like them over the last 30 years, have helped
Shook become one of the largest contractor/construction managers in
the area providing thousands of seasonal construction jobs and
opportunities for its employees to grow with a vibrant, stable and
conservatively aggressive company.
Besides its Dayton headquarters, Shook has fully staffed division
offices in Cleveland and Indianapolis.
